Equipment
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the diced onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sautéed onions and garlic with sliced beef hot dogs, chili, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the hot dog and chili mixture into the baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the chili mixture.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- After 20 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
- If desired, top with sour cream and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
Storage & Reheating:
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place in the microwave or warm in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until heated through. Variations:
- For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños to the chili mixture.
- Substitute the beef hot dogs with turkey or chicken hot dogs for a lighter option.
- Add cooked bell peppers or mushrooms to the mixture for extra veggies.
- Use different types of cheese, such as pepper jack or gouda, for a unique flavor.
