Decadent Strawberries and Cream Sweet Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries chopped
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for glaze
  • 1 tablespoon milk for glaze
  • 1/4 cup fresh strawberries pureed (for glaze)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, and egg until fully combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute until smooth.
  6. Roll the dough into a rectangle, approximately 1/2 inch thick.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, chopped strawberries, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  8. Spread the strawberry cream mixture evenly over the rolled dough.
  9. Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log.
  10. Cut the rolled dough into 1-inch slices and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing together the powdered sugar, milk, and pureed strawberries in a small saucepan over low heat until smooth.
  13. Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool slightly before drizzling the glaze over the top.
  14. Serve warm and enjoy these delectable strawberry sweet rolls!

Notes

Storage & Reheating:
Store any leftover sweet rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. To reheat, place them in a microwave for 10-15 seconds or warm them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes.
Variations:
- Substitute the strawberries with fresh blueberries or raspberries for a mixed fruit version.
- Add a splash of almond extract to the cream cheese filling for an extra layer of flavor.
- Top with whipped cream instead of the strawberry glaze for a creamier finish.
